Brendan Goodwin

Brendan Goodwin is a musician and educator originally from Connecticut. He earned a B.M. in Music Education at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Goodwin studied piano under the instruction of Dr. Richard Mueller in Willington, Connecticut, and played brass instruments in school. While at Keene State College, he studied euphonium and trombone under Dr. James Chesebrough and Dr. Joshua Long. He taught as a public-school music teacher for several years in New Hampshire and was the music director for elementary schools in the Gateway Regional School District for one year. Goodwin is currently transitioning into a career in cybersecurity, and provides instruction in piano, voice, brass, and music theory and the Prindle School.

Growing up, Brendan Goodwin spent much of his time outdoors with the Boy Scouts of America or his high school cross country team. He enjoys camping and hiking and is proud to be among the 2.5 million people who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Brendan Goodwin was the music director for Keene State’s a capella group, Chock Full O’ Notes, for 2 years. While in the group, he arranged and recorded many multi-part acapella songs. His work with the group was very influential in his choice to continue pursuing music education, especially with choral music. Goodwin studied the voice under the instruction of Pamela Stevens at Keene State. His favorite types of music stem from a few influences, including classic rock from his parents' taste, as well as jazz and funk music, inspired by his late grandfather, Steve Evans, who was an Emmy-award winning composer and musician.

After attending Keene State’s Global Engagement seminar in Uganda and Rwanda in May 2017, Brendan has a newfound appreciation for vocal and drum music, and the transformative power music has to bring people around the world together. His philosophy of teaching is based around his belief that music is indeed the universal language, and it can be understood by all people.
