Joseph Goguen is a Music Education and Trumpet Performance major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating in 2017. Studying under Eric Berlin, Joseph’s musicianship has been recognized by the International Trumpet Guild and National Trumpet Competition. He has performed with a variety of ensembles on campus, including the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra, and has traveled with these groups throughout Massachusetts and the northeastern United States. While studying at the University of Massachusetts, Joseph has been recognized as a student-arranger, writing pop charts for the Hoop Band and co-arranging a Bruno Mars medley for the Minuteman Marching Band.
Joseph recently completed his student teaching with Kris DeMoura and Kris Lucander within the Ashburnham Westminster Regional School District. In March of 2017, he received the Massachusetts Music Educators Association’s (MMEA) Promising Young Educator Award. Always hoping to inspire students, Joseph spends parts of his summers working and volunteering with local marching bands, including the Gardner High School Wildcat Marching Band, Narragansett Marching Band, and Oakmont-Overlook Marching Spartans.
