Past Recitals

Sixth Annual Spring Recital: June 2, 2018

DETAILS

The recital was held at Edwards Church, 297 Main St., Northampton, MA 01060 at 2pm on Saturday, June 2nd. It was a benefit for two charities: The Northampton Survial Center and the Robert Schultz Memorial Scholarship Fund.  For more information about Edwards Church, visit www.edwardschurchnorthampton.org. For more information about the Northampton Survival Center, visit www.northamptonsurvival.org.

DONATIONS

Northampton Survival Center

At the recital, we will be collecting donations to benefit two causes that we feel very strongly about. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Northampton Survival Center. The survival Center offers “nutritious food and other resources in an atmosphere of dignity and respect” to low-income individuals and families, according to their website.

The Robert Schultz Memorial Scholarship

The other half of the proceeds will benefit the Robert Schultz Memorial Scholarship Fund, a fund that provides music instruction for children who could not otherwise afford it. Rob Schultz was a musician and music theorist who was a dear friend and colleague of our owner Dan Prindle. In the summer of 2015, Rob was suddenly and surprisingly diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer that claimed his life within just a few short weeks. Rob was a wonderful person and a dedicated music educator, having taught private music lessons early in his career before moving on to teach at the college level at the University of Washington, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Kentucky. His positive impact on the lives of those he taught was immeasurable and we at The Prindle School are honored to offer a scholarship in his name.

Second Annual Winter Recital: January 2018

DETAILS

This recital was held at Rockridge Retirement Community, 25 Coles Meadow Rd., Northampton, MA at 2pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018.  All of our recitals are free and open to the public, but for recitals at retirement communities, we ask that all of our attendees be considerate of the residents of the community and offer them priority in choosing seating.  We feel it is important to do community outreach and to offer our students an opportunity to share their musical gifts with the wider community.

Fifth Annual Spring Recital: June 2017

DETAILS

This recital was held at Edwards Church, 297 Main St, Northampton, MA at 2pm on Saturday, June 17th.

DONATIONS

At the recital, we collected donations to benefit both the Northampton Survival Center and our new scholarship fund.  The survival Center offers “nutritious food and other resources in an atmosphere of dignity and respect” to low-income individuals and families, according to their website.  The school’s scholarship fund will provide music instruction for children who could not otherwise afford it.  The benefits of music education are very well documented at this point and we feel very strongly that music offers an opportunity to stimulate young people intellectually and emotionally in a way that improves their ability to achieve academically. Our goal for the fund is to offer lessons to all children who are passionate about music, regardless of need.
