Zack Cross began his formal classical piano training at the age of 6, quickly developing a passion for music. After being given a Thelonious Monk CD in high school, he joined the community jazz band and switched his focus. Since then he has become an international performer of all styles of music, from country to electronica.
He studied with jazz education legend David Baker during his time at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where he earned his Bachelors in Music for Piano Performance in 2010. After graduating he moved to Western Massachusetts and established a studio of private students. While developing a local reputation as a teacher he began performing with the country artist Jamie Kent & The Options, touring the US and performing at South By Southwest in multiple years. When he is not supporting a myriad of performers locally and nationally, Zack is also an active songwriter and music producer, working on his own project, the electronic indie-rock band Mammal Dap.
Zack wants all of his students to feel excited about their study of music, and will work to build knowledge on every level including music theory, composition, ear training, and proper technique at the piano.
