Michelle Prindle

Michelle Prindle is an active classical singer with a Bachelor of Music degree in classical vocal performance from The Hartt School and a Master of Music degree in voice performance from the University of Masschusetts Amherst. She has also pursued advanced post-graduate vocal studies in Salzburg, Austria, Heidelberg, Germany, and Florence, Italy. Her special area of interest is vocal health and adolescent vocal development. She has performed as both a soprano and mezzo-soprano with the Five College Opera, UMass Opera Workshop, Hartford Opera Theatre, PANOpera, New York Opera Forum, Florence Voice Seminar, and Berkshire Opera Company. Opera credits include: Frasquita in Carmen, Gianetta in L’elisir d’amore, The Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. Partial and understudy roles: Falstaff (Nanetta), Pirates of Penzance (Ruth), Hänsel und Gretel (Hänsel), Carmen (Mercedes), and Der Freischütz (Ännchen). Music Theater credits include: Hello, Dolly! (Minnie Fay), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), My Fair Lady (maid, Eliza u/s); ensemble: Carousel, The Music Man, Sweeney Todd, Fiddler on the Roof. Concert work: Faure’s Requiem and Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard (soprano soloist, Master Singers of Worcester); Mozart’s Regina Coeli, k. 276 (second soprano soloist, Capella Carolina, Heidelberg, Germany); Haydn’s Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo (soprano soloist, Manchester, CT).

Michelle has taught private voice and piano lessons for more than 25 years. She is on the voice faculty of UMass Amherst, Deerfield Academy, and New England Music Camp. Her students have been admitted to competitive voice and musical theater programs at University of Massachusetts, Smith College, Wagner College, Chicago College of Performing Arts, and the Conservatory at Shenandoah University. They have been accepted to the Senior Districts and All-State Music Festivals in CT and MA. Michelle has trained in vocal pedagogy with renowned pedagogues including Dr. Dana Lynn Varga, David Jones, and Claudia Friedlander, and continues her voice training with Dr. Jamie-Rose Guarrine.
