James Thacher

James Thacher is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education (Classical Voice Concentration) and an undergraduate certificate in choral conducting at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He sings Tenor I in the Chamber Choir at UMass and has performed in major works such as Giuseppi Verdi's Requiem.

In addition to classical voice, James has extensive experience with musical theatre technique, and currently serves as the resident music director for Valley Student Theatre Company in Granby, Connecticut. For appropriate ages, James specializes in mixed voice and belting technique. He has worked with students of all ages and loves to help passionate musicians find their voice. James believes in strong emphasis on healthy technique, expressive quality, and the nurturing of development in young voices. He also works hard to help his students develop a confident, healthy relationship with their voice. 

Classical credits: Tenor solos (+choral parts) in Handel's  Messiah, Solo/Soli in Brahm's Neue Libeslieder, choir in Verdi's Requiem.
