Allie Schumacher
Allie Schumacher enjoys a diverse musical career as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher, and orchestral player. Currently earning her Masters degree at University of Massachusetts Amherst in the studio of Hyobi Sim, Allie fulfills a teaching assistant position and plays with the graduate string quartet as well as teaches both private students and chamber music ensembles. In addition to her concentrated focus on chamber music and pedagogy, she enjoys performing solo repertoire and playing with varied orchestral ensembles in the area.
An Iowa native, she received her Bachelors of Music Performance at the University of Iowa with professor Christine Rutledge. There she was the recipient of the School of Music scholarship, winner of the University of Northern Iowa Viola Festival Concerto Competition, and participated in the University of Iowa Summer Chamber Music Tour for all of her four years.
Allie has currently been teaching for 6 years and in addition to her viola students, teaches violin and piano of which she has more than 12 years of study. As a teacher, Allie is focused on tailoring lessons to the student’s needs and helping each individual reach their musical goals. In addition to her dedication to providing each student a critical technical and musical foundation, she finds it equally important to discover what sparks musical joy for students and to foster an enjoyment for creating and sharing music.
